Dear Parents / Carers

Please follow the guidance below if your child develops symptoms of COVID-19 after the closure of school today.
Notifying the school of a positive test result
If your child developed symptoms of COVID-19 and has been tested or was asymptomatically tested (tested when they don’t have symptoms) and the results do not arrive before the school closes today, please email [email protected] as soon as the results arrive.
Notifying the school if your child develops COVID-19 symptoms after the school closes for Christmas
Notify the school if:
- Your child develops symptoms or is asymptomatically tested (tested when they don’t have symptoms) before 3:30pm on 20 December 2020 and;
- Your child was in school in the 48hrs prior to the symptom on-set (or test if they have been tested but don’t have symptoms)
You do not need to notify the school if:
- Your child has not been in nursery/school in the 48hrs prior to the symptom on-set (or test if they have been tested but don’t have symptoms)
- Your child develops symptoms or is asymptomatically tested (tested when they don’t have symptoms) after 3:30pm on Sunday 20 December 2020
Testing
We would like to remind parents that children should only be tested if they develop any of the three COVID-19 symptoms:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
They should not be tested asymptomatically (when they don’t have symptoms) unless they are part of a study or have been advised to do so by a Consultant in Public Health.
Returning to school in January 2021
The school does not need to be notified if your child is required to self-isolate during the Christmas holidays. If your child is required to isolate after the 4 January 2021 and will not be in school on the 5 January 2021 please email [email protected] outlining the reason why they are isolating and the date they will return. We will then review these emails when we re-open on the 4 January 2021 for staff training.
Test and trace arrangements when the school re-opens in January
From the 5 January 2021 onwards the normal test and trace procedures will apply, and parents should contact the school to notify us if their child develops symptoms of COVID-19 using the following [email protected]

Rudolf Run
The children ran so well in all different weather conditions to complete the Rudolf Run. A lot of run was had in raising money for St Luke’s. If you have not managed to donate, please try to do so to help support this valuable resource.
Support payments for the winter period
Please note the following for families in need during this difficult time.
After the Government announced £170 million in funding would be available for local authorities through its COVID Winter Grant Scheme, Cheshire West and Chester Council will receive £925,000 in total to support residents.
This funding will help families struggling to pay for food, fuel or water bills throughout the winter period.
Who will qualify
- Families with children receiving free school meals on 1 December 2020.
- Families receiving either a Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction on 1 December 2020 AND with children below the age of four, or children between the ages of 16 and 18 inclusive.
- Individuals who have left the care of Cheshire West and Chester Council and are below the age of 25 on 1 December 2020.
Details of the award
Applications must be made online as bank details are required to make payments. An award of £45 per eligible person and £35 per household will be paid into the nominated bank account, subject to checks against records held by the Council. An automated notification will be sent out to confirm that an application has been received.
To apply online:

When payments will be made
Payments will start in December, but volumes are likely to be high. The Council is asking that, once an application form is completed, time is given to send the awards out as repeat contacts are likely to delay any awards made.
