Parent Governors

The school currently has a vacancy for a parent governor.

Do you feel you have the time and energy needed to help drive the school forwards in helping all children to fulfil and exceed their potential?  We welcome people from all backgrounds and no prior knowledge of how schools work is necessary. We would especially encourage any of you who have a background in education, SEND or safeguarding but also if you are a good talker and listener and would be confident that you can speak out to help make a difference then we would love to hear from you.

Governors have a strategic responsibility for the direction and management of the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting the vision and strategic direction of the school
  • Approving areas of school development and priorities
  • Ensuring that financial resources are well managed and used to support the aims of the school
  • Holding the school to account for educational performance

Our Governing Board meets as a whole every half-term.   Meetings are held either at the start of the school day or after school.  Full Board meetings usually take approximately 2 hours, and you will be expected to have read all meeting papers in advance.

Once elected, you would be expected to attend all governor meetings to which you are invited and to serve for a period of four years from the date of your appointment. In addition, you will be allocated responsibilities for updating the Board on areas of school performance / curriculum and will need to meet with staff from those areas on a termly basis.

This is an unpaid / voluntary position.

If you are interested and wish to be nominated, please call Julie Griffiths at the school for a nomination form, or email [email protected].   The completed nomination form must be returned to the school office no later than Midday on Monday 30th September.
