Dear Parents
Netball
Well done to the Y5/6 Netball team who were a credit to our school, when they played at the Academy last week. They played brilliantly and came joint first with another local school. Thank you to Mrs Lancaster and Mrs O’ Mara who attended with the team. Well done to all concerned!
Cross Country
The cross country runners took part in a competition last week also and represented the school well. We are awaiting their league results to see where they are in the tables. Well done to everyone who took part and a thank you to Mr Bratt and Miss McCabe who accompanied the children.
PTA Movie night
Thank you for the support from our PTA who ran our Movie night last week. Thank you as well to the staff that assisted the PTA during the evening. The children had a wonderful time and all enjoyed watching the Grinch!
Social Media
We have had a number of incidents of children misusing “What’s App” and “Tic Toc” whilst at home, which have then unfortunately affected friendships and relationships of the children in school. Please may we remind all parents and carers to check their children’s phones or devices regularly to monitor what is being sent to other children. These apps do also have an age restriction of 13 or above.

Mrs Lawton
Mrs Lawton returned to school just after the half term. She has notified us that she will finish working at High Street at Christmas to spend more time with her young family. We wish her all the best and thank her for all the hard work she has put in during her time here. Mrs Barnes will continue to share the teaching of Y5 Wandle with Miss Guppy until the end of the school year.
Basketball
Congratulations to our Y5 and Year 6 Basketball teams who participated in the Vale Royal Partnership Competition on Monday this week. Both teams played well but were unfortunately did not win the overall competition. Well done to everyone who took part and a thank you to Mr Bratt and Miss Phillips who accompanied the children.
Year 4 Visit to York
A huge congratulation to the children in Year 4 who ventured to York last week on the first residential visit of the school year. It was a pleasure to spend quality time with them and to see them enjoy the sights of York, learning all about invaders and raiders in the process; many thanks to parents for supporting the visit and to the team of staff who gave their time to accompany them.
Kitchen Assistant Vacancy
Please note that we currently have a vacancy for a Kitchen Assistant to join Mrs T Piggott and her team. The position is for 10 hours per week and will involve the preparation and serving of food and clearing up following school dinners. The successful applicant will be employed by Edsential who provide the catering for the school. Interested parties should contact Mrs Piggott via the school office.
